I have a quick question, I hear people talking about making their birth plans, my doctor has never mentioned one to me and no one in my family ever did one. So is it necessary to have one? This is my first baby and I want to do everything right, I am 34 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Before I know Mikey will be here with us. Thanks

I just had my little girl and I didn't ahve a birth plan. I knew I wanted an epideral. When I got there they gave me stadol which was good because it made the time go buy very fast and your sleepy and out of it so it's easier to deal with contractions. They ask if I wanted the epideral and I said yes. Since it was my first they took their sweet time getting the cathador in and by the time they got it half way in I started to feel likepushing and I grabed the nurse and said I felt like pushing and they said we have to finish the cathador. They finished and checked me and I was crowning and the first thing I said was I'm getting the drugs right? They replied with no there is no time you have to push. The epideral didn't work until after I had her and I couldn't even enjoy holding my baby because my shakes were so bad. I hated that stupid epideral. My advice get the stadol or demerol and breaththrough the contractions. But everyones diffrent.

What is the stadol? I can't have demerol I am allergic to it. Your daughter is cute.

I had demeral and no epaderal with Allie. I got stadaland no epaderal with Gabbriel. And after 15hrs of labor and 36hrs of no sleep I got the epaderal with Kailyn.

Stadal is like demeral....it relaxes you and takes the edge off the contractions. You still feel them they are just a tad bit weaker. The epaderal completely numbs you from the waste down and you feel NOTHING!!! Hehehehe that is sweet!

I wouldn't have gotten the epaderal this time had I not been in labor so long.

I had a birth plan with all 3. It was NO EPADERAL, maybe a tad bit of IV meds to take the edge off. It worked the first two times, but not the 3rd.

GOOD LUCK in what ever you choose!

I am allergic to demeral, so I can not take it. But talking with people, they tell me if I have severe back pains now then I deff. want an epaderal. I am 37 weeks today, only 3 more to go, yeah!
